Yipppeeee! We decided last week to book tickets to go to Liverpool in July. Rich's grandma turns 90 so almost his entire family is going over there. Should be a great time - though a few days before that we had decided that Rich would go by himself so not too sure if he is thrilled about having 4 tag alongs (well not too thrilled maybe about 3 of them!). Not to sure if either of us is thrilled at the prospect of a 8-9 hour long airplane ride with Christian. Oh, well we'll make it and who knows he could suddenly turn into a kid who loves to sit on our laps and doesn't love to walk around!! We have been tossing the idea around of using children's gravol on him and then last night (up at 3 in the morning thinking about this) I realized that we might not be able too. You see, I just figured that we would bring the bottle with us - liquid is best we've been told plus he probably couldn't chew a pill - but that is when it hit me that we probably can't b/c of the liquid restriction on planes. We can bring milk for him but we'll most likely have to taste it - would they make us do that for gravol? And then I started to think about Tylenol - last time we flew we gave some to the boys to help with any ear pain - but guess what that is liquid too - OH _ brain wave you can now buy the dissolveable children's Tylenol -phew we're safe.
I was also thinking - at 3 in the morning - about the prospect of renting a car. Gotta do it. We were going to use our airmiles to rent it but have discovered that it would only cost us 140 bucks more to pay for it with good old cash. So, what is one to do - use up all of our airmiles or just dole out 140 more dollars and save the airmiles? Also, do we get the extra insurance just in case Rich has a brain fart and doesn't remember how to drive on the wrong side of the road and we crash or if some Liverpudlian (or Liverpoolian can't remember which on it is) decides to steal our car. Anyways these thoughts kept me away - annoying. Any thoughts on my dilemmas - thankfully they aren't really that big of a deal or I would never sleep!! Have a great day.

Check with the airline and see what they allow. Some allow fluids as long as they are no more than 3 oz. DO what you can to get your kids groggy for the flight. I would give them Tylenol anyway, just in case, plus that could make them groggy. Is that mean ?? NOPE, it's SURVIVAL :)
You are going to have a great family trip...oh yeah, pay out of pocket for the car, and make sure you get the extra insurance...you never know !
I agree. Check with the airline. They don't want screaming kids on their flights either, so I'd be very surprised if they completely disallowed "necessary" meds. :-)
hi Yvonne! that's so cool you guys are going to Liverpool! that means it's just a hop and a skip to come visit us instead of a hop, skip and a jump like normal. don't you think you'll need to chill on a beach on the Mediterranean after being around so much family for that long? yeah, i think so. :)
i found that things were a little more relaxed as far as liquids go when we went to Canada a couple of months ago. one thing though, don't just check with the airline, but check with Heathrow too. they have different regulations as far as luggage allowances, etc go. we saw people dumping tons on stuff. it was just to get through security. also, when they see you and all your boys, they should let you skip ahead to the front of the line. they did that for us and we only had Ayva. so if they don't see you right off, send Rich over. it's the one perk of travelling with kids as those lines are looong.
oh and say hi to your dad from me. great starbucks memories :)
Thanks for the advice gals. Nice hearing from ya Cara - thanks for the reminder - my in laws had to empty out their carry on cases (in Manchester) when flying back here after a vacation and had to pay for extra luggage. YUCK! Relaxing on the beach sounds wonderful - maybe one day!
I think you are still allowed meds on a flight...Maybe that is if it is in a perscription botlle. I know I asked when we were going to go to Hawaii and it was ok...but that was perscription...hmmm
I buy the chewable Gravol tabs when Paige has the flu, I crush them and add a bit of water and suck them up into a medicine syringe and give it to her. Heck you could mix it with a bit of Tylenol, that should really knock them out :-)
