Happy 60th Mom!

Well, my mom turned 60 on June 25th and we had a dinner party for her. Back in November in Whistler, for my Dad's 60th, my mom said she was fine just going away with the family and not having a birthday party. I thought phew, for a moment and then as I thought about it I knew she would be disappointed if something else wasn't done. So, I phoned up my Auntie Evie and we had a little chat. Auntie Evie had already been thinking about it and thought that an intimate dinner party would be good - I thought so too. So I did my big part and phoned a few people and Auntie Evie did the rest. She was amazing!! Auntie Evie did the invites, decorations and food.

So, the party was last Saturday evening. There were 8 of us altogether and it was a surprise. My mom thought they were going out for dinner with Auntie Evie and Uncle Ken but really it was a party for her. The evening began with some appy's and then the most delicious dinner ever!!! We had an awesome salad, then wild rice, asparagus and chicken wrapped in phyllo pastry. It was soooooo good!! The dinner conversation with a bunch of ladies who are pushing 60 can be rather interesting - from death, to dementia to hmmm, I can't remember what else. We then moved into the living room for my mom to open up presents. My mom received a list of things she needs to do now that she is sixty and the ladies laughed so hard! (the list was funny) We had yummy cheesecake with strawberries - chatted some more about interesting 60 year old topics and then the evening was over. I thought I would be home by 10 at the latest but nope they know how to live it up and I wasn't in until closer to 11:30. It was a great time. My mom (I think) really enjoyed herself. Auntie Evie did a fabulous job. Thank-you!:) Oh, we are still going away as a family to Whistler this summer - can't wait, it'll be so much fun.
