STAY AWAY!!!!!!

AHHHHHH! I just came away from my third tupperware party in a month and I think I've been scarred for life. Not by tupperware but from the freakin' mosquitoes in Fort Langley at the ferry. I've NEVER seen sooooo many in my entire life. Yesterday Rich took the boys across the ferry to meet up with his parents and he was bit five times - I thought ah, mosquitoes love Rich (and he did say they were everywhere) it won't be so bad. However, I believed him enough to spray myself with off b/f I left and to spray a blanket for Callia with it. So I arrive at the ferry and have to park practically back in town - that's okay, until I get out of the van. When I go to get the stroller out there are ten or more swarming around (yuck) , however when I went to get Callia out I almost died- it was as though I had parked on a mosquito nest (if there is such a thing) - there were hundreds of them (no exaggeration) swarming around the door so I opened up the opposite door and yanked her outta there. We made it to the other side of the river (Callia unscathed, me not so lucky b/c I didn't spray my face by my eyes!) and we even it made it back to the van after the party without them flying away with us. Callia only had one land on her forehead and I got it. But I'm surprised we made it home safe - people probably thought I was drunk b/c it's hard to kill the buggers while you're driving!!! Anyways, stay away from the ferry and fort Langley - it's a beautiful place but a nightmare in July.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience--the mosquitoes have been terrible this year.

I can tell you that the Township of Langley, where I serve as a Township Councillor, has been busy spraying for mosquitoes (even using a helicopter for some hard-to-reach breeding grounds), but it took several weeks to get permission from the Greater Vancouver Regional District to allow us to spray in their Brae Island, Derby Reach and Kanaka Creek parks.

That is now being done, and we have already seen good results and far fewer mosquitoes.

Yeah! Glad it was sprayed (didn't think that was done anymore). I've also heard it's only in July - we are camping there in August and heard it is great then. Kinda a funny place to camp when you're only from Walnut Grove but it's great when you have a new(ish) baby and might need to sleep at home!:)

Something like 85% of the campground's customers come from within Greater Vancouver. You'll have fun!
